John Thain "tries to deny the truth," chides Charlie Gasparino, as the CIT Group (CIT) CEO takes to CNBC to say he is not shopping the company to a big bank. More likely, says Gasparino (who, along with Stifel Nicolaus, started the rumor on Monday): Thain can't find a buyer.

  • Charlie usually has the scoop.

Was wonderful watching Sheila Bair unload on Thain last night, and apparently in her new book, as being an empty suit only concerned with protecting his bonus during the 'crisis' meetings back in 08. She summarily dismissed him as being pathetic at best, and an embarrassment to the people who gathered to try and solve real issues at worst.
