    Buried within the prospectus for Time Warner Cable's (TWC) 46.4M-share public offering  of Clearwire (CLWR -9.5%) stock is a disclosure that Comcast (CMCSA) has notified Clearwire it plans to convert its 88.5M Class B shares (6.1% of all outstanding shares) into Class A shares, which it would be free to sell to the public. With Comcast having abandoned its wireless ambitions this year, it's not far-fetched to imagine some or all of those shares being sold in the near future.

    Someone please Help. All the talk is SPECTRUM SPECTRUM SPECTRUM. clwr has more than anyone in the country. It is supposed to be so valuable.
    Why is everyone selling clwr.

    "Everyone" that is selling their shares are cable companies who have already partnered with Verizon and signed agreements. The fact that these cable companies are selling their shares is a good thing because when you think about it, neither Dish Network or DirecTV are going to want to run their operations on the same network as their competitors. In this case, that network is Clearwire's network. If Dish Network and DirecTV are going to want to stay in business, they're going to have to deliver wireless content because that's what consumer the demand is at the moment.

    If I recall correctly, DirecTV specifically asked the FCC to encourage the cable companies to divest their investments from Clearwire so we might see a major deal in the very near future.

    Comcast converted them to get the tax deduction. They aren't selling them. At least not for a while in my view

    Also, if it a good thing that they are selling there shares in clwr, how come each time it is done ( think 2 big dumps so far), the stock takes a big hit.
