Monday, October 1, 2012, 12:55 PM ETJuniper (JNPR), which had 9,373 employees as of the end of June, has laid off 500 workers as part of a restructuring. Many of the cuts reportedly target the company's QFabric switching op. Introduced to much hype in Feb. '11, QFabric, which allows the resources of multiple switches to be pooled, has seen underwhelming demand thus far, as rival Cisco (CSCO) continues to dominate the data center switch market. Updated: Juniper says the layoffs aren't targeting QFabric or any particular line.
