Tuesday, October 9, 2012, 8:41 AM ETSoft drink sellers Coca-Cola (KO), PepsiCo (PEP), and Dr. Pepper Snapple (DPS) plan to start posting calorie counts on vending machines next year in a move that could be designed to beat critics to the punch. By placing a calorie warning on machines, the companies hope to take the wind out of the sail of efforts like those in New York City to legislate soda intake.

At some point, some of them will have to fight back or watch their businesses crushed like the health-care industry.
It doesn't seem to matter that Coke and other soft drinks have been around since the late 1800's with no problems but now they are the source of all obesity! New York city, for example, banning 20oz soft drink sizes but next door is a deli that will sell you a pastrami sandwich that has significantly more fat and calories than any drink.
Just because it's been around since the 1800's doesn't mean anything. Coke also had parts of cocaine in it in the 1800's too; but it evolved based on adverse affects to their customers. The world changes and companies need to also or they die.... see RIMM.
I invest in coke because they have evolved when it was in their and their customers best interests.
