Bernstein believes Apple (AAPL) will migrate its app processor production from Samsung...

Tuesday, October 9, 2012, 7:10 PM ETBernstein believes Apple (AAPL) will migrate its app processor production from Samsung (SSNLF.PK) to TSMC (TSM), as many expect, but not right away. The firm thinks Apple will wait for TSMC's 20nm manufacturing process to ramp, something that won't happen until late 2013, too late for a TSMC-made chip to power the next iPhone or iPad. As for Intel (INTC), which recently entered the foundry business, Bernstein thinks an Apple deal could make sense long-term, but doubts one will happen before 2015.

Intel could be producing Apple chips in a couple of months.
As I've written repeatedly, they'd be smart to open this up to larger partnerships, as they cannot always guess/peg/dictate what the market needs.
If you push you nose away from the chalkboard.....why would Apple wait until 2014 for TSMC to come up to speed on 20xnm? They hosed up 40nm and 28nm, what makes anyone think they will execute on 20xnm?
And then switch to Intel in 2015??....Bernstein either has a split personality or knows nothing about Apple or Intel. intentions.
A clear view would have Intel making Apple A6 chips ASAP and Apple taking advantage of the continually improving manufacturing technology at Intel. No brainer.
But, like I said, either Apple management are morons or Bernstein doesn't know what they are talking about.
