    After Oct. 17, BP will be free to sell its 50% holding in TNK-BP to any buyer; Rosneft seems the most likely winner, but Andrew Peaple says it isn't an outcome BP investors should welcome. A better option, he says, is for Rosneft to buy out AAR's 50% of TNK-BP, which could then become the vehicle for BP to explore further investment opportunities in Russia.

  • What kind of risk is that BP buys TNK-BP for USD 7 blns, receives USD19 blns in dividend and can pocket another USD25 blns from the sale. Very funny.
