Honeywell (HON +1%) says that new federal fuel economy standards are going to give a boost to sales of turbocharged light vehicles over the next few years, with demand tripling in the U.S. by 2017. New CAFE standards mean that automakers are going to need to downsize their powertrains to meet federal targets, and the company predicts that the number of turbocharged units is going to jump from 1.3M units last year to around 4M - fully 25% of light vehicles sold - in 2017.
