Friday, October 19, 2012, 1:43 PM ETTwo aging pipelines that carry ~20M gallons of oil and natural gas every day under the Straits of Mackinac in northern Michigan are time bombs that could devastate the upper Great Lakes if they rupture, according to a National Wildlife Federation report. The pipelines are owned by Enbridge (ENB -1.1%), which was responsible for the 2010 spill that fouled the Kalamazoo River two years ago.

It could be bad for pollution if a giant sulfer meteor hits the earth also.
Without some actual numbers - such as age and status of the lines, actual likelyhood - and a host of other facts, that statement means nothing.

So that pipelines do really need to consider what to do. But so does the government(s) .
Are the pipeline companies more negligent... not sure.
Maybe foreign operations are taking too much from home.
