It could be bad for pollution if a giant sulfer meteor hits the earth also.

Without some actual numbers - such as age and status of the lines, actual likelyhood - and a host of other facts, that statement means nothing.

If you click the link to the article, you see the pipes are 59 years old. Usually, I'd blow this article off, but Enbridge has had some issues with leaking pipelines in the past, which could either be bad luck, or a sign that Enbridge needs to do a better job at maintaining and checking its pipelines. Only time will tell.

Whatever the problem is or is not. The only question is, what is the company doing about fixing it. If there is a problem and I would suggest, and inasmuch as my family has been in the petroleum business since 1938, that 59 year old pipes are problematic. Better to have a fix immediately than deal with the god awful repercussions of a bad event, both financially and in the press.

these are all valid concerns. The infrastructure North America is aging. It is not just pipelines. It's overpasses ,bridges etc..

So that pipelines do really need to consider what to do. But so does the government(s) .
Are the pipeline companies more negligent... not sure.

Maybe foreign operations are taking too much from home.

1 barrel=42 gallons . 20m/42= 476,190.47 barrels of oil. I believe this is correct. I guess the sky would fall if this happens. You have any Idea how much oil eep transports a day? Read the facts on their website. Accidents do happen but cars don't run on air very well.

Enbridge US moves a little over 4 million barrels a day, according to the website. I'd say that a pipeline rupture that would cause 10% of their total capacity to spill into the largest lake system on the planet is something we should try to avoid.

Having been a share holder in Enbridge for a number of years, I expect my company to act responsibly towards environmental safety. 59 year old pipelines seem old. Special consideration towards such a sensitive exposure is warranted.
