I think US Airways has so many customer service problems that they could not handle American Airlines. I am a million mile flyer on US Air and they treat me like a Peon. Poor American Airlines Customers if US Air takes over. I would testify before any regulating body on how bad US Air is on Customer Service that I had experienced myself. I had a flight cancelled last month because of mechanical problems and they said too bad, no compensation, hotel, food, etc., Next day flight on Delta (NewPort News-Las Vegas) because they had no availability, had to pay for luggage etc. Very very bad customer service, and very rude.

The bottom line is American and USAir need each other. American is falling to a distant fourth and its ability to compete with UAL/CAL and DAL/NWA is rapidly declining. USAir does not have the international routes nor size to move up to the level of the larger network carriers. This merger would leapfrog the combined carrier into first place.
The problem is that only Doug Parker could put the two together and regain profitibility. Horton lacks the vision and support of the employees. He should bow out with the usual millions and "spend more time with his family".
