Market recap: Stocks took a breather as the dollar rose amid worries over European sovereign debt troubles. Most key sectors fell, particularly financials and utilities. Techs generally bucked the losing trend, pushing the Nasdaq to roughly breakeven. Gold topped $1,400/oz. to hit a new record, while silver futures put in fresh 30-year highs. NYSE declining issues slightly outnumbered advancers.
