Most key sectors fell, particularly financials and utilities. Techs generally bucked the losing trend, pushing the Nasdaq to roughly breakeven. Gold topped $1,400/oz. to hit a new record, while silver futures put in fresh 30-year highs. NYSE declining issues slightly outnumbered advancers.
