    Apple and Samsung can exhale: H-P (HPQ) won't be making a smartphone next year, says Meg Whitman at a Gartner event, while adding the company remains interested in eventually offering one. Whitman also declared 2013 a "fix and rebuild" year and reaffirmed H-P commitment to the PC market, in spite of its recent struggles. Slumping Autonomy's big data analytics position was talked up, and Whitman claimed H-P had 2K public cloud beta customers. (FY13 guidance)

    Why doesn't (HPQ) buy (RIMM), and maybe integrate some of those big data tools for the smartphone. The idea would sell to corporate...and while they're at it, but some HP servers too...and tablets...and pc.
