The New York Times (NYT -0.2%) will reinstall its paywall after giving out unfettered access during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The bigger issue: Despite the well-documented workarounds to get around the NYT paywall, the company is recording triple-digit growth of digital subscribers and could soon topple the one million subscriber mark. But will a fragmented landscape for digital advertising keep revenue growth muted?

  • And I'm not exactly sure how all the folks without power (many without even a house to live in now) were supposed to access the NYT web site to get all this wonderful info. Sounds like the same sort of thinking that has a 3 huge generators tied up providing power for a worthless press tent for those covering a freakin' marathon that Nurse Bloomberg is dead set he's going to have despite it pulling badly needed resources from the rescue and recovery effort. So, no, I don't imagine those poor folks still in a mess from this thing - especially out on Staten Island - are going to miss the free access to the NYT web site.
