Amazon Prime (AMZN) tests a new $7.99 per month option for users who don't want to pay the $79 annual membership fee. The company sees the lower upfront number potentially helping it compete against Hulu and Netflix (NFLX) with their own $7.99 pricing. If the strategy works, the company also lands more revenue per user in the long run.

  • I have both Hulu and Amazon Prime at home, and over the past few months Hulu has added a LOT more new content than Amazon has. In addition, Hulu has been adding a huge swath of new foreign movies and TV series from Asia and Latin countries.
