    There was much excitement about the revival in consumer spending this holiday season, but the celebration may have been premature. Many consumers simply plan to cut back in January to make up for their splurges in December.

  • I don't think cut back unless they have to. It seems people are addicted to shopping. However, I have to say retailers were very agressive with the promotions and sales this season, so it was hard to resist. But it looks like retailers are not planning to carry the sales into January, and this might prove to be their mistake.
