Westport Innovations (WPRT -6%) is opened with a Sell rating at Goldman Sachs, seeing downside despite opportunities in natural gas engines due to the Cummins JV that accounts for nearly all of WPRT medium-term profits that's scheduled to terminate in 2021, and high distribution support requirements that limit normalized profitability for the Heavy Duty franchise.

  • WPRT has been good to me, 4 wins so far with options plus the stock itself. At current prices i think it is a long term buying opportunity.
Volatility in a stock with sound fundamentals going forward (the trend, in this case a switch to natural gas as a cheaper fuel, is your friend) do dips in price are an opportunity to be a contrarian.

  • Where was GS when WPRT was at 50? GS has become the contrarian indicator. TIME TO LOAD UP!!

  • agree with loading up. But will wait a little while. Looks like the whole market is going to take a hit. WPRT isn't able to swim against the tide right now. Better entry price coming.

  • Hey guys---I have been watching WPRT for sometime now However I don't know how to play it post election. I was feeling pretty bullish about the Co until recently. I understand they have a number of patents in reference to HPDI applications for natural Gas engines and JV or partnerships with Cummings, Cat, and the Chinese. However there seems to be a great deal of volatility in this stock---so how do you really play it and what is a good entry point? At one time I was thinking $30 was a good start, but now feel this stock is going to hover in the low to mid 20;s for awhile. What say you??

  • I bought 400 shares yesterday looking for a Romney win but will be adding more shares as I wait for a little further decline in price to the $21-$22 range. Patience is all that is required on this gem.
