Of course its a far cry from 2005's numbers. Good Lord. Its like nothing less than a miraculous one-day super recovery is palatable. Get a grip people and understand this recovery is and will be step-wise.

Exactly right, we wouldn't be in such a pickle if housing wasn't overbuilt. I can't believe we need any new homes.

They need to turn into remodeling companies...and fix all the forclosures that are out there.....the ones where the wiring was ripped out..all the cabinets are gone...

I understood why they were still building in 2009 and 2010. Developers leverage up to buy property in advance. If they don't develop it, the servicing of the debt is like dead weight. But that time should be over. The government ought to temporarily suspend any government financing support of mortgages that result from additional new homes built. They can still build if new buyers can obtain other financing, but we need to burn off this inventory overhang.

It could be. Build the home, can't sell it and it goes vacant for 2 years, then the looters come for the copper piping.

hi duude,
this is why home builders are now more then ever using pvc piping. you may see metal fittings for the eye to see,but you can rest assure there is pvc in the walls and drains.

Yeah, my neighbor's waterline busted on him - after digging it up, he discovered the "plumber" had tied about four different pieces of scrap piping to tie his house to the main water line. Builders will subcontract to the lowest bidder.
