    For every $2 U.S. consumers spent on traditional video game products in October, they spent nearly $1 on "digital format sales" such as downloads, subscriptions, in-app purchases, and mobile apps, according to NPD. Sales figures for traditional products were predictably bleak - hardware -37% Y/Y, software -25%, accessories +5% - though analyst Liam Callahan thinks rising M/M console sales bode well for the holiday season.
