A high-profile group of nine Democratic and nine Republican senators urges Pres. Obama to quickly issue a permit for the northern leg of the Keystone pipeline (TRP +1.8%), citing the need to create jobs and to reduce oil imports from the Middle East. The senators' letter comes just ahead of a protest against the pipeline planned for the White House on Sunday.

  • Forget it...we are sending it West to China. Why deal with a socialist state when you can deal with a capitalist one.

  • just thinking...a real leader will look at the deal.Decide if it is good or bad..Benefits and features...then make a decision before a competitor does and takes the advantage away......Obama has to be told what to do by his managers...handlers...and the decision will be based on what is best for Obama and his legacy...

  • The XL will not happen, it makes to much sense. Our President will stand behind the 5000 people that are against it. To bad for the other 325 million of us that want it.

  • XL will get done...gtd. Just part of negotiating w/ the GOP. Why wouldn't it. THINK ABOUT IT instead of just reacting. Be smarter.

  • Give the U.S. a piece of the profits and maybe we will consider it. It does nothing to help our importing of foreign oil. This is Canadian oil, which will be refined and sold to Europe. Like I say, give the U.S. some $, or a % to put in our reserves then maybe. Only current upside is a few thousand jobs VS environmental problems. Nonetheless, once the requested re-routing away from the aquifers is approved, I expect the State Dept will give the go ahead.
