Friday, November 16, 2012, 3:18 PM ETThe SEC has been warning Wall Street firms and and market exchanges to beef up their cyber security efforts for some time now, but earlier this year it was the watchdog agency itself that nearly shut down Wall Street. According to a recent report by the SEC Inspector General's Office, SEC staffers from its Trading and Markets division brough unprotected computers containing sensitive, classified material on how to shut down the NYSE and Nasdaq to the Black Hat hackers convention, and logged into the unencrypted computers through public wireless networks.
