With the FDA showing once again that it is willing to ignore the recommendations of its own panels, investors in MELA Sciences ([[MELA]] +3.7%) will have some nervous days ahead of a final decision on the MelaFind, as the FDA clearly had concerns with this application.

  • I hope FDA has been able to understand Dr. Joseph Gulfo's explanations, and evidence. This non-invasive layer of observation, VISION, and protection, offer patient and physician a "second opinion". MelaFind will be placed in the hands of the best person to handle it, the Doctor. It will be used, when appropriate. Physician retains the decision to go to biopsy, in consultation with the patient. There is no reason to not approve MelaFind. There is every reason to add a "second opinion", to preserve and protect life.

  • All of the following INVASIVE tests have been improved over what they began at. X-Ray, Mammogram, CAT, MRI, Nuclear Stress Test, and more. Had they not been approved, we would be in some serious shape. We are, however in serious shape, with Melanoma. The dermatologist, in discussion with the patient, will decide to MelaFind scan, or to not utilize MelaFind. FDA is playing with people's lives. Knowledge is power, and in the case of melanoma, that knowledge can be life saving.
