Market recap: Stocks pushed to session highs, with the Dow enjoying its best day in more than two months, as investors latched on to signs of a fiscal cliff compromise. But the holiday week likely will see lighter trading volumes and thus may offer a misleading portrayal of sentiment. Oil markets were more jittery, as crude oil jumped 2.7% on Middle East tensions. NYSE gainers beat losers nearly four to one.

  • Sold oil contracts today, might have been premature, but want to be ready with cash to short markets - financials and techs ahead of fiscal cliff. Small bounce today compared to the decline so far - sorta seems like the markets were a little to eager to get the bounce over with, doesn't it?

  • That rally just didn't feel good. No credible news to trade on and the market just launches. Short covering?
