Disney (DIS +0.1%) quietly ends its online movie service after the business didn't generate the number of users the company anticipated. It's by no means an end to the company's ambitions in the area with a broader online movie service still under development. Expect the next iteration of the service to leverage the Marvel and Star Wars properties along with Disney classics.

  • Disney websites are so effing slow. First hand experience in using this for Walt Disney World reservations for the resorts and dinners over the last year when I had two vacations with them. It is the worst site to navigate of all the media companies. Not surprised to read this but still think it's the result of the website and not the products.

  • I think netflix should get the rights to these movies, DIS doesn't know the first thing about on-demand Internet streaming... They are just wasting money.
