    It took a while, but NBC (CMCSA +0.4%) finally starts to see its large investment in Notre Dame football start to churn up some powerful ratings. The broadcasts by NBC Sports of the peaking Fighting Irish this year averaged 4.4M viewers, up 69% compared to last year. The prolonged payback has some relevance today after News Corp. positioned itself to generate cash with the New York Yankees by nabbing a 49% stake in the YES Network in a move that has the potential to be leveraged in a variety of ways.

    Hmm, so as long as ND has a good football team, NBC stock will be fine? Based on recent history, that seems like a LOT to hope for :)
