Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 5:21 PM ETU.S. kids again want iPads for Christmas ... and so do a lot of their parents. A Nielsen survey found 48% of kids aged 6-12 and 21% of kids aged 13+ are interested in buying an iPad (AAPL) over the next 6 months. That's similar to last year's numbers. Meanwhile, an Ipsos poll found 1/3 of U.S. consumers to be interested in buying a tablet this holiday season. 25% of them want a regular iPad, 15% want a Kindle Fire, another 15% a Samsung tablet, and just 8% an iPad Mini. NPD's Richard Shim estimates Q4 North American tablet shipments will total 21.5M, easily outpacing notebook shipments of 14.6M.

From there it scales up as far as you want it to.
Apple has choices at every price point. I think they are going to have a killer holiday.
Who wants to tap their phone and exchange a play list???? A 14 year old only but then they would have to buy a Galaxy and that is just not cool.
It's not even clearly defined, do you have to have the same music on your device already or does it give you access to stream those songs somehow? Can some Samsung owner please shed some light here, what exactly does it do and whats the point?
NFC just isn't there yet. That's why Apple hasn't adopted it.
They also have an app where you 'bump' your spacebar with your phone to shoot pictures onto your desktop. Pretty crazy.
I have enjoyed a variety of Apple friendly accessories, clock radios and such. I am a little bit bummed that they don't work with the new phone, but I've been eyeballing some nice Bluetooth and Airplay alternatives for a while regardless.
No USB port or SD card slot is a bummer but I've made the choice a couple of years ago to move to the Apple iOS and O/S so everything plays nice together & is easy for me to use right out of the box.
They both said iPad is next. They are buying for themselves, not parent gifts.
We just added, our iPad 2 still works good.
IMO it's best to buy the 64gig versions of the iPads
Love my new mini, got the 4G version to tide me over until our dumb phone(s) contract runs out then will add 2 more iPhone 5s to our house.

The PC is now the third fastest selling computing platform in the US, behind the smartphone and the tablet.
An iPad is a tool. Tools can build toys, nuclear weapons and artificial hearts.
It is an instrument of wonder. Knowledge, joy, human connection, distraction, how to boil an egg and on and on - it's quite a lot for $329.
For the added portability I'm gladly sacrificing some screen size.
