The firm sees bears jumping all over the development as a sign of weakness, giving opportunistic buyers a cozy entry point. So far it's working, shares of Tesla are down close to 5% since Wednesday's high.

$5,000 deposit - my understanding was that the alleged price increase is to spur customers to close the deal or take their $5K deposit and go home! The theory is to clean up the cue from those who are serious or not.
The other theory being deposited is that the alleged price increase is for 2013 orders or those delivered in 2014 assuming the 6-9 month wait continues.
