Microsoft (MSFT) is investing another $250M in its Partners in Learning project, which aims to provide teachers with IT training and other "21st century skills." Microsoft has invested $750M in the program since '03. The latest round comes at a time when Apple is making new inroads into the education market, aided by the iPad.

  • I wouldn't worry about Apple to much in the education sector, they (education system) will always go for the cheapest solution and I would be surprised if Apple is the answer. The only school I ever saw hand out apple laptops the principle said they regretted the deal due to how expensive and tough it is to get the laptops fixed when kids abused them.

While I think that the iPad is great for education, the Nook or any other tablet is probably equal in terms of overall value.

In any event I think it's time we stop the mass printing of textbooks that cost 70-200$ each and get changed every year... gotta love those professors who assign their own books for their classes lol...
