The gauge dove 28 points to -11 in a survey conducted Nov. 12-16. "This is an eye-opening drop in optimism," says Wells' Marc Bernstein.

The Democrats are the party of big government and big business. The Republicans make nice-nice towards small business during campaigns--and certainly Romney did that, but, after elections, they team up with the Democrats to make big government bigger and do nothing to prevent big businesses from squashing little ones.
Therefore, the small business owner knows he's on his own with Republicans in charge but he's got a target on his back with Democrats in charge.
Hence no hope for change.
But we have this to look forward to:
