Monday, December 3, 2012, 11:20 AM ET4G baseband chipmaker Sequans (SQNS +29.1%) has soared after announcing its chips will power "a significant portion" of the devices used in the next stage of China Mobile's (CHL) TD-LTE 4G trials. CHL plans to deploy 20K base stations for its trial through Q2 (benefiting Alcatel-Lucent), as it awaits regulatory approval for a full commercial launch. Sequans, which has struggled to secure 4G design wins while competing against Qualcomm and others, had a short ratio of 17 as of Nov. 15.
