More on ADP jobs: Now included with the reports are the insights of Mark Zandi, and he blames Sandy for "slicing" 86K from payrolls. By this calculation, November would have seen a gain of 204K vs. October's 157K. Economy fixed.

  • Let's put this in perspective: Sandy is likely to be the last major hurricane we ever see and so the employment picture looks rosy.

  • Not rosy but certainly not recessionary

  • bbro,
At what point will Sandy no longer a factor for the jobs report? I'm being serious and not a wiseacre.

  • We should see most of the hurricane-related job losses go away in December and January and there will probably be a small boost to employment, on the back of the reconstruction and cleanup effort, between now and February.

  • Mark Zandy has missed so wildly on all of his NFP predictions I am simply amazed he has a job still.....

  • Zandi is a blathering optimist and liberal stooge ... has hardly ever been right about employment over the last several years.

  • It is amazing that Mark Zandi has any credibility. Perhaps the bigger question is why do economists have any credibility? I have come to the point that I question the distinction between the dismal science of economics versus voodoo/black magic. There seems to be little accountability or little structure to how they derive their opinions.
