Samsung was first, followed by fast-growing local Android OEMs Lenovo and Coolpad. The iPhone 5 launches in China on Dec. 14. 3) As Tim Cook declares some iMacs are being made in the U.S., Foxconn says it will expand its North American production.

Let Android be the next Symbian. Apple needs profit share, not market share.
But, previous information on the Chinese carriers seemed to indicate otherwise, showing a shift in smartphone accounts in favor of the competition. Changes could be due to the network availlable, demographic shifts, and possibly iPhone availlability. China Mobile might be the one being hurt by holding out.
China Mobile President Li Yue:
"Speaking at 2012 China Mobile Worldwide Developer Conference, when asked about availability of iPhone, he told the audience that “technology is not a problem, [it’s] mainly about business model and benefit-sharing issues”."
China Mobile wants a piece of the Apple Pie, it's that simple.

China Mobile understands Apple's phones will likely need a hefty subsidy and they want compensation for that. So they will take it on app sales.
Please note that North America includes Mexico.
I'm skeptical Apple products will be made in the USA
i.e.: job creation not so sure
