Thursday, December 6, 2012, 4:01 PM ETShares of Metabolix (MBLX +33%) surge even higher into the close after the company announced earlier today that it will work with UCLA's School of Engineering and Applied Science to redesign carbon fixation pathways to increase the efficiency of capturing energy from sunlight. This is the third grant awarded to MBLX this year for crop research targeting multi-gene expression and transformation of plants. Funding from the three grants will total around $1M and runs through 2014.
