Chinese media reports only 1 of 9 companies taking part in government tests for 4G TD-LTE baseband chips - a group including the aforementioned names - fully met government standards in a test. China Mobile (CHL) is plotting a commercial TD-LTE launch, but its timing depends on approval by a government that may chose to bide its time in so that more subscribers are racked up for CHL's 3G network, which relies on home-grown TD-SCDMA tech.
