    CYS Investments (CYS) declares a Q4 dividend of $0.40/share vs. $0.45 in Q3. The company also clears out the rest of its coffers, declaring a special dividend of $0.52/share. The dividend cuts start (or in some cases continue) for the mortgage REITs. Shares +0.5% AH. (PR)

  • I'm more concerned, as a past CYS investor, for where the money came for this special dividend. Aren't they required to be paying 90% of their net out to shareholders regularlym, as part of the 1940 Investment Act requirements related to averting double taxation? I understand special dividends in other sectores, but not in REITs.
