    With all the focus on BP’s U.S. legal issues, it has been easy to forget that Shell (RDS.A, RDS.B) also is facing litigation in the Netherlands over its operations in the Niger Delta. A new academic report highlights a shifting legal environment in which Shell can expect to face an increase in lawsuits.

    I suspect these types of lawsuits are just the tip of the 'green iceberg". Although there may be a valid argument for compensation in some instances, the progressive left is encouraging the lawsuits to further their cause of stopping the use of hydrocarbons.
