Micron (MU) has begun shipping phase-change memory (PCM) chips in large volumes to Nokia. Micron only recently began production of PCM chips, which offer better performance than NAND flash memory and (unlike DRAM) can retain their data when power is lost. PCM chip densities don't compare with NAND and DRAM, leaving them best suited for a complementary role. Along with Elpida's mobile DRAM business, they're central to Micron's efforts to grow its mobile exposure.
