Maybe what is required is for everyone to suffer the immediate shut-down of the total oil and gas industries until finally the extremists get what they are asking for and then maybe they will wake up to the fact that in all things and opinions there must be balance and reason.

I am sure that the Gov't will enure that the pipeline will benefit the U.S. consumers, ie jobs, environment, capital, resource access, etc. when this was initially announced US had >9% unemployment which I am sure was used as leverage at that time. This will transfer heavy oil sands which requires different methodology than lighter based crude or nat gas. Need to get this one right from the beginning as it goes from top to bottom of central US.

Gulf coast refiners already use Venezuelan crude that is similar to Northern ab crude. That is the reason to not build upgraders in Canada. This pipeline does not need upgraded crude. The Canadian solution ( line to Montreal ) will require upgraded or synthetic crude before the refiners can process it. My view - Agree with lorneb. Then build the Canadian facilities and let the US get crude from China - like everything else they buy!

Do not expect to see balance in US politics anytime soon!

This pipeline will not happen under this administration. I hope this will be a wake up call up in Canada to get pipeline both east and west. When that happens, sell only 200000 barrels a day to the US. When the middle east goes haywire and oil is 140.00 a barrel with gas at 6.00 a gallon, then turn the valve closed and sell it all to China. Does anyone know what Washington is doing. The only keystone are the keystone cops in DC.

The environmentalists demonize Canadian heavy oil while the US continues to import over 900,000 barrels/day of the same stuff from the not so friendly folks in Venezuela. Very strange, to say the least!

Hey, its not like we need any more jobs in the US. Next Summer, Next Winter, Two-Three years, next decade..... and the same gutless idiots in Congress will then be screaming about the Chinese getting Canadian oil and we "can't let it happen again" with the 2021 discovery of new oil in Mexico!!

And of course, it will happen again.
