Now I have to agree with your second comment that we have to look at how they prepare their food alongside the supply chain and even what was their food contamination rate pre U.S. fast food chains coming there.

Three weeks ago, I was in China for 10 days although not in Chengdu. Damn, I am feeling nauseous.
Pretty much anything said the the China Daily is suspect, as it is considered to be a semi-official (ie, state run) publication, similar to CCTV. Hong Kong and Taiwan newspapers are much more reliable.
KFC is probably the healthiest stuff they can eat :)

unless there is really an issue with the bacteria in KFC chicken which doesn't seem to be here
A couple of years ago, Walmart Chengdu was having problems with mislabeling foods and overcharging.
I would not be surprised if any of the other retailers in Cn do much far worse transgressions that are swept under the rug ...
Cn's model law code is just that a model and rather useless!
