Abbott is not down 50%. It is ex-spinoff and the two pieces (ABT and ABBV are up $1.12, or just under 2% (compared to ABT's 12/31/12 close)..

Does anyone reading this know how to contact the Seeking Alpha market-data people?

The A;pha folks have been following the Abt break-up and are well aware of the split and why Abt itself is down by about 50%. That's just the easiest way to get to the new level.

Nice returns if you bought into the futures before the markets even opened... otherwise you would be down for the day! How is that fair for the average investor who wants to enter the markets on an up day?
