Japanese automakers continue to see the U.S. as an important base for manufacturing with Honda (HMC +3.5%) forecast to see its U.S. production outpace the number of cars it imports in from Japan to sell stateside in a couple of years. Though the strength of the yen has been a major incentive for Japanese firms to produce in the U.S., the diminished gap in quality between vehicles produced in the two nations is also a factor.
