Wednesday, January 2, 5:50 PM ETMicrosoft (MSFT) is taking shots at Google over the search giant's lack of support for Windows Phone. In a blog post, a legal exec accuses Google of preventing Microsoft's WP YouTube app from supporting features found on Android/iOS YouTube apps. Separately, Microsoft says it's"surprised and disappointed" by Google's decision to end support for the Exchange ActiveSync protocol, used to provide push e-mail support for Gmail on WP devices, for new hardware. Is Google trying to thwart the adoption of a rival OS that uses Bing as its default search engine? (previous)

After all, where is the consumer in all of this?
Everyone knows that google is biased and as a consumer, I will choose the search engine that gives me the most/best information in a fair, unbiased format.
the key word is "blind" even with all the difficulties using google sites in Cn, I refuse to use Bing-- unless out of desperation.
At least, Baidu offers a few carrots-- streaming movies, that I can't otherwise buy legally in Cn (Cn now charges a tariff for purchases from Amazon.com) and getting proper name cn translations.
Long Msft
not Long Goog, nor AAPL
The majority do prefer Bing's results on the blind test.
If your personal results consistently prefer Google and you're different, that's okay.
It's clear your preference is based on bias, not results.
More relevant, as noted above, the change in user habits will take some work.
Agreed Baidu is a great Chinese alternative that's amazing to watch for that market.
Cn academics prefer Google!
As an investment though Baidu is great, because the Cn govt aides it with hackers stalling Google products.
This could push people away from gmail to .live email which also recently was updated and is very sleek... I'm not saying it will just speculating on possible outcomes.
they stage a 'funeral march' for android on their campus and then cry like little babies when google won't help them?
grow up
So, guess what when I purchase my new high-end laptop, I will get Windows 7 Ultimate installed on it. Then, I will have an OS that is easy to use and I will still have the choice of which search engine I want to use. Needless to say, my preferred choice is Google.
I do not understand why anyone should use Windows 8, unless they are a teenager with an unlimited amount of time and unlimited financial resources.
So far, no one has been able to tell, what new feature that Windows 8 has that I need as an IT Professional.
I think what this article gets at is that microsoft has provided support for its products for google and apple operating systems. Skydrive, bing, and limited versions of office are available for iOS and android. Personally I hope that google supports windows platforms more in the future, including a windows phone 8 youtube app and better google calendar integration into microsoft outlook.
I've enjoyed the product and services from all 3 tech giants, not one above the others. Windows 8 is an excellent consumer product, and is very easy to use. After a couple months of using it on my touchscreen acer s7 laptop, I hate using windows 7 and non-touch devices.
I would agree strongly that the W8 store and interface is unnecessary for business use. Remember that business was not the target for the W8 upgrade and that may help you cope.
