German unemployment grew for the ninth consecutive month in December, increasing by 3K to 2.942M, although the rise was less than the 10,000 that was expected. The jobless rate was unchanged at 6.9%. "The German economy is strong and it is only a question of time until businesses start expanding again," says Commerzbank's Ulrike Rondorf. Still, "German companies are reluctant to hire," due to the uncertainty in the eurozone.

  • Even the dynamic Germans can't get unemployment down to 6.5%. The Chopper Man chose that number well. QE infinity is safe for now, and we even have solved our fiscal crisis by taxing millionaires and billionaires--the market reacted well.

And Bill Murray's face is in theaters playing the upbeat FDR rather than army losers.
