Who out there actually thinks many consumers will think of Lowes when they need a Cat 5/6 cable or a wireless card? On paper it might sound plausible but in reality...not so much. Sounds like the "Bladder Theory" hard at work here.

Wall plates, long runs of Cat 5/6, and built-in speakers. Sure, I can see it. Have you noticed that these items are in the same aisle as other 'rough-in' goods like outlet boxes, sub-panels, and other electrical goods? Why is A/V and networking a stretch Texaswiz?

The problem with all the tech that Lowe's wants to employ is that in-store bandwidth is insufficient for current use let alone add-on requirements. Lowes current IT platforms are glitchy, slow and badly executed. Lowe's has also proved itself less than adept at deploying any new tech in a timely fashion.
