  • Wishful thinking SAP. China is in the business of stealing technology and licensing. SAP will not be able to bring in a dime as profit from China.

  • If SAP restricts itself to SaS in the cloud rather than enterprise licensed installations, it might be able to avoid the usual theft of IP. Then again, it will be exposed to hacking by some of the best; how many Chinese firms are going to want their business data in the SAP cloud for all their countrymen to see? Still, I agree that they are probably overly optimistic about the opportunity...

  • SAP : ASAP in China

Without underevalating Capabilities of Chinese Engineers , Il believe that they would loose more to try to steal SAP technology and know how rather than take advantage to structure their rapid growing businesses in installing SAP technology ASAP and pay the lisenses experience . The huge growth of the Chinese manufacturing industry require most of their good engineers and IT specialists , also Chinese exec knows very well that to-day their interest is now to acquire the consulting, organizational , management techniques and savoir-faire that SAP ( (and previously IBM and others as MIT , Harvard etc , as SAP exec themselves recognize) capitalized since WWII. Chineses businessmen understood that for many years . As Confucius said : "the worst mistake in strategy is to underevaluate his challenger"
