With little U.S. economic data to parse, investors mostly stayed on the sidelines ahead of tomorrow's start of the Q4 earnings season. Treasury prices, battered in recent sessions, turned down slightly ahead of the week’s government debt auctions.

    In terms of effective purchasing power or when measured in terms of gold and oil stocks were not near their 5 year highs. It is money illusion that makes it seem so.
