  • First, to state the obvious to anyone who seriously invests--some of these stocks have far less than "fat dividends." Second, some of these are just plain mediocre companies--there are much bigger and 'fatter' fish in the investment sea!

  • My dividend stocks and that list have zero overlap. That makes me happy :).

  • More money in the history of the markets have been lost chasing yield then anything else. Sell calls to make yield.

  • Yeah doc, I am with you...'fat' is a relative term! ha!! Did you see how they also snuck in (in plain sight) "...and big buybacks..." That must cover those more svelte dividend monsters! But I do own both rails, so buy some! Long CSX, NSC

    Cheers, Moses

  • CSX is one i own also, though i've been looking at NSC for a while.

The other two stocks i've kept in my radar are AIZ and AXS, though now after a goldman recommendation i better stay away from them.

  • The GS descriptions of both CSX and NSC are flat wrong: neither of them makes railcars. Both are Class I railroads. A minor quibble, perhaps, but if he gets something this basic wrong, what might be wrong with his comments on other companies one doesn't know so well? Pass on the entire post.

  • Either the stock is @ 52 week high or technically broken. Best ideas to short.

  • Is there a double-inverse ETF I can buy on Goldman best ideas list?

Just look at their last list (if you followed, you'd be one of few people to lose money in 2012):

  • If they're recommending definitely avoid these names they're crooked even to they're own muppet clients- likely shorting out the back door

  • Let's see Goldman still owes me for that $30b bailout that came out of my taxes in 2009 and 2010? They paid the government with interest while I've been getting 0% on anything left in a bank account.

  • Don't know much about any of the listed stock but did buy 500 shares of BLK at $173, back in November for the $6 dividend, and sold it today at $217. Thank you GS,

I cant believe who gave us that headliner ??

Not a single stock offered over 2% of dividends, some good stocks, but definitely NOT for dividends !!
