Hanging in there for most of the day, U.S. equities begin to move lower, with the DJIA -1.1%. The NASDAQ, green until a short time ago, -0.4%. Two schools on falling commodity prices: they allow the Fed to keep the party going, or, as in 2008, they're signaling something worse.

  • Its the economic principle of dimineshing returns. The more the Fed pumps the less the effect....Ben is like a crack addict...he needs more and more of a hit (in this case print) to keep his high going

  • Looking at the differences of 2008 and today I think all will agree that corporations are in a much stronger and sound financial position than they were. There is a LOT of cash on the books in corporations. This, in my humble opinion, will help them in the long run. I believe that you will see a lot of volatility in the markets with the ending of QE2 but in the long run the dollar stands to come out stronger and equities the big winner.

  • Well, the market is throwing a little tantrum to goad the lawmakers into increasing the debt limit... Another few hundred points down, they will all come around and submit themselves
