Another Boeing (BA) 787, this one operated by All Nippon Airways (ALNPY.PK), made an emergency landing in Takamatsu in western Japan today after pilots received a battery-fault warning and smelled smoke. It's not immediately clear what caused the problems, but all 137 passengers and crew members were evacuated safely. Japan is the biggest market so far for the Dreamliner, with JAL and local rival All Nippon Airways flying 24 of the 50 Dreamliners delivered to date. BA shares -1.9% AH.

  • The 787 program is risk sharing program and three or four strike a ago the IAM went on strike to stop outsourcing that Boeing had been done since the end of the 707, 727, 737 classic Boeing and the IAM agree that the IAM would have first chance to bid on the parts being out source
This would required the IAM to become a supplier to Boeing and buy the machinery and the building from Boeing and become a union hall and hire worker, this never happen but the membership did sign the contact anyway!
Boeing wanted a no strike clause for the 787 program and when the IAM refuse Boeing place the 787 2nd assembly line up for bid, 88 cities responded to Boeing request, Vought won the bid and Vought build the south Caroline plant with tax breaker from the south Caroline taxpayer

Michael Bair, the former head of the 787 program,
"I don't think that you'll hear a sucking sound of production jobs moving away from Seattle" to South Carolina, he said. "But future aircraft lines will be built like the 787, and that means final assembly can be pretty much anywhere

note boeing has never build APU, landing, gears, enginees,

  • After Worldwide Attentions about the 787, Boeing will improve its image by hiring the World Renowned Technology Expert
    Wile E. Coyote
Boeing will also follow Kentucky Fried Chicken and will offer
Extra Crispy 787, Smoke Favor and Firestone 500 at no charge

Boeing could save millions in FAA Fine by Outsourcing the hookup of the Aircrafts Systems, Battery, APU wiring, and installing Fuel Lines O-ring and Lock Wire to a to an outside company that employee technology experts, professional known has Aircraft Worker that can read aircraft drawing alone with installing Fuel Lines with O-Ring and Loc Wire

Boeing could rehire the Boeing retiree and transfer the 19,000 Defense and Space Worker to Everett to work on the existing workmanship problems and the production rate issues of 10 787 per month, surpassing the existing 50 787 in the last four years and 40 748-8 in the last two years
Also Boeing could fly the 787’s on top the NASA 747-100 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft see my drawing from 2008 unstill its get the bugs out of the 787
This could be a cost saving for Boeing, since last year, the FAA fine Boeing one Millions on the 777 oxygen’s system that were incorrectly installed
In 1990 the FAA fine Boeing 26.2 millions for not build the 757 per drawing

Not to worry the 787 has two lithium-ion battery the other battery is in the nose where the pilot are at, under the cockpit floor in hell hole where all the aircraft LRU boxes and wiring is located at

But the Boeing Stock Analyst that are not aircraft technology experts have stated that 787 problems are just normal teething problems! BATTERY FIRE AND LEAKING FLAMMABLE FUEL LINES alone with the 787 being 4 years late
Boeing has been building aircraft since 1916
But the Head Line News and the FAA fine and Airlines cancel their orders and buying from Airbus are normal growing pain and teething problems too but the FAA does have a 18 to 24 months flight test programs for certification
and the Boeing stock has gone from $105 in 2005 to $ 75.23 today

    ======================...
Many battery types fall under strict transportation regulation. This is done for the safety of those handling them and the passengers traveling on a common carrier. Here are the rules in short.
In 2009, 3.3 billion Li-ion batteries were transported by air. Such air shipment is an ongoing concern, and an airline-pilot union has asked the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ban them on passenger aircraft. From March 1991 to August 2010, batteries and battery-powered devices caused 113 recorded incidents with smoke, fire, extreme heat or explosion on passenger and cargo planes.
Boeing and the FAA may wanted to review the existing Flammability Standards For aircraft alone with Explosion Proof LRU and fire proof LRU boxes
What is the cost of lithium ion battery and the weight saving vs the cost of fixing Boeing image ?

  • Not Just the workers, the engineers are unionized too!

That way nobody can be held accountable.

  • Sure, it is much safer to fly on older Boeing models. As with newly-approved FDA drugs, it isn't the newer the better. I took only some drugs that have been around for 20 to 30 years!
