Sturm, Ruger (RGR +3.7%), Cabelas (CAB +5.6%), and Smith & Wesson (SWHC +2.6%) trade higher after President Obama signs 23 executive orders on gun control limits which come in addition to the laws the administration is pushing Congress to pass. While there is little question the companies will post stellar earnings in Q1, the debate focuses now on how long the demand rush will last or what will be the whipsaw action if the NRA helps blocks some of the pending legislation.

  • Obama really needs to deal infotainment industry, who are systematically dumbing and numbing down American children, for the sake of lurid profits. But he won't upset his buddies in the Hollyweird land.

  • There are only 20,000 PLUS firearms laws now in force. Criminals and those with serious psychological issues don't care about the first 20,000 laws. But some how a new law (or 10 or 15 new laws) will stop them completely! NOT!! Logic flaw, can you see it?

  • The laws pertaining to mental illness help to identify people who are mentally unstable and keep track of them in a database. So when this person goes to buy a gun and the dealer runs a background check, this person will be blocked from purchasing a gun.

  • Jon Stewart had an interesting segment last night on this. He went on to point out that the federal agency supposed to regulate firearms and their sales, the ATF, is essentially hamstrung.

Was actually rather informative, to me. And like Jon Stewart's view and the other comments above, I don't think more laws/bans will change a thing.
