Friday, January 18, 3:51 AM ETBoeing (BA) is working with the FAA on interim safety measures so the agency can allow the Dreamliner to start flying again, with government and industry officials hoping this can take place early next week. Meanwhile, the FAA's oversight regime in which plane makers do much of the testing - the agency can't afford to take the lead in this area - before a plane is certified is under scrutiny following the 787's malfunctions and particularly its battery problems.

If the cockpit Fire Light is OFF and there no smoke inside the aircraft everything is OK
Wow who dream this one up !
What next firestone 500 tire ?
Does it have a college kids and a bar chart too!
Maybe the battery could be connect to I Pod APPS with live video to the aircraft in seat passenger entertainment systems and direct feed to Boeing Ceo Office too or self test like a car idiot light
That why new aircraft program have a 18 to 24 months FAA flight test programs to get the Aircraft Certification
Boeing could save millions in FAA Fine by Outsourcing the hookup of the Aircrafts Systems, Battery, APU wiring, and installing Fuel Lines O-ring and Lock Wire to a to an outside company that employee technology experts, professional known has Aircraft Worker that can read aircraft drawing alone with installing Fuel Lines with O-Ring and Loc Wire
Boeing could rehire the Boeing retiree and transfer the 19,000 Defense and Space Worker to Everett to work on the existing workmanship problems and the production rate issues of 10 787 per month, surpassing the existing 50 787 in the last four years and 40 748-8 in the last two years
Also Boeing could fly the 787’s on top the NASA 747-100 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft see my drawing from 2008 unstill its get the bugs out of the 787
This could be a cost saving for Boeing, since last year, the FAA fine Boeing one Millions on the 777 oxygen’s system that were incorrectly installed
In 1990 the FAA fine Boeing 26.2 millions for not build the 757 per drawing

Boeing looks to boost 787 lithium ion battery service life
Jon Ostrower Jun 2008
The first 6 787 had the older type battier installed
The sources add that the first six flight-test 787 aircraft will have the original feature lithium ion batteries, but will be retrofitted with new batteries before delivery to airline customers.
The use of lithium ion batteries is to be the first application of the technology on a commercial jetliner.
The US Federal Aviation Administration voiced its concerns about the use of lithium ion batteries in an April 2007 proposed special condition.

Boeing does not used lithium-ion battery on other Boeing aircrafts
How long does it take to replace the existing battery and installed the older type of battery 2 hours ?
Many battery types fall under strict transportation regulation.
This is done for the safety of those handling them and the passengers traveling on a common carrier. Here are the rules in short.
In 2009, 3.3 billion Li-ion batteries were transported by air. Such air shipment is an ongoing concern, and an airline-pilot union has asked the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to ban them on passenger aircraft. From March 1991 to August 2010, batteries and battery-powered devices caused 113 recorded incidents with smoke, fire, extreme heat or explosion on passenger and cargo planes.Boeing and the FAA may wanted to review the existing Flammability Standards for aircraft alone with Explosion Proof LRU and fire proof LRU boxes…. battery box!
Boeing and the FAA has know about the Lithium-ion battery since 2007
That wasn't enough to prevent a lithium-ion battery from lighting off in a Cessna Citation CJ4 last year
Cessna quickly withdrew the batteries from the Citations and the FAA issued an emergency AD. Cessna says it's still committed to Li-ion, but declines to offer details.

What inside a Lithium-ion battery ?

What is the cost of lithium ion battery and the weight of 63 pounds saving vs the cost of fixing Boeing image ?
The 787 has been in the world news and on TV around the world showing how great the aircraft escape slide work
What a saving on advertisements for the 787
Maybe Boeing could apply for Federal Disaster Assistance and Emergency Relief funding or Cash for Clunker' programs for the 787
Priceless
Boeing is proposing “a complete health check” on each lithium-ion battery
Which one of the flight crew is go to entry the forward equipments bay “hell hole” and the of the aft cargo bay and the ask the battery to stick out its tongue and say ahh?
Most LRU have a self diagnostic check already
These 787 problems are not a surpirse as the FAA as well as the industry knew Boeing decided to outsource most of the plane with little oversight using risk based management instead.
How's that working for you mother Boeing!
Based on History of performance and acheivments, I will go with and TRUST Boeing failure annalysis and Root Cause Corrective Actions.
Like any new Aircraft, more flight hours and scheduled Maintenance chrecks equal more confidence.
Lest we forget---The Beauracrats at the FAA already issued A Type Certificate for the 787. (Certified the 787)
if God want men to fly on composite aicraft the aircraft would still be build out of wood

The 787 has a under design wing box, alone with other problems
Boeing should had stop the line 3 years ago and fix all the 787 problems
Boeing and the FAA knew about the battery in 2007
