The PlayStation 4 (SNE) will feature a controller sporting a touchpad and allow multiple users to simultaneously log in, gaming site Kotaku reports. The PS4's development kit is said to contain 4 dual-core AMD Bulldozer CPUs, along with an AMD GPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. AMD is already expected to be a key supplier for the next-gen Xbox. Look for Microsoft's console to be announced at the June 11-13 E3 gaming conference; Sony's could be announced a little earlier.

  • Very wise for SONY and Microsoft to use cost effective hardware in their next gen console.

AMD = fast enough processor and cheap, 8core for $200, cost effective for corporation, best performance per dollar

Intel = faster processor and expensive, ya... 6core for $1000, best performance at a premium price, cost ineffective for average joe and big corporation.

  • Amazing how quickly the incessant ridicule of Nintendo's Wii U gamepad has turned into imitation.
